DOT Announces $54M Investment in Rural and Tribal Transportation Projects Nationwide

From Homeland Security Today:

The U.S. Department of Transportation Secretary, Sean Duffy, announced a $54.2 million investment through the Build America Bureau’s Rural and Tribal Assistance Pilot Program (RTA). The funding supports pre-construction activities for 49 recipients (31 rural and 18 tribal) across the country.

With $20 million specifically for tribal projects, the grants help communities hire experts for planning, design, permitting, and financial assistance on roads, bridges, ports, and multimodal infrastructure. No local match is required.

Examples include $2.35 million for a marine barge landing facility in Chevak, Alaska, and $1.96 million for a tribal transportation facility on the Crow Reservation in Montana. Officials highlighted the program’s role in building capacity for faster, lower-cost project delivery and economic development.
