Unleashing American Drone Dominance
U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy announced a new rule process to allow American industry, innovators and creators to do business more efficiently and effectively through the use of drones and unmanned aircraft. There has been an uneven playing field for years putting an artificial ceiling on the industry and hampering progress.
Secretary Duffy and the Trump Administration are not afraid to move fast and safely. America has led in aviation from the very beginning and the Administration is promising we will also lead in the drone space today.
The new rule process will work to normalize Beyond Visual Line of Sight” or BVLOS practices to simultaneously allow our innovators and businesses to create and innovate and put safety and the American people first. The Department of Transportation is committed to working with the TSA to ensure operators are being vetted so we have good actors involved.
The mission is to have the final rule accelerate the expansion of commercial and public safety drone operations throughout the United States while enhancing the safety and transparency of the national air space.
From U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean P. Duffy:
“We are making the future of our aviation a reality and unleashing American drone dominance. From drones delivering medicine to unmanned aircraft surveying crops, this technology will fundamentally change the way we interact with the world. Our new rule will reform outdated regulations that were holding innovators back while also enhancing safety in our skies. Thanks to President Trump, America – not China – will lead the way in this exciting new technology.”
